DWTS Pro Emma Slater Shares Her Powerful Perspective Shift: ‘Crazy & So Needed’

“Dancing With the Stars” pro Emma Slater revealed that she made a significant shift in her perspective that had a profound impact. Slater shared how discovering a “healthier mentality” has been “a beautiful feeling.”

On June 27, Slater took to Instagram to share a photo and offer some valuable insight into how she felt about the pic when it was taken versus now.

“When this photo was taken I think 2.5 years ago I didn’t like it at all. I didn’t think it was feminine and I looked at myself through a lens of self judgement and criticism,” the “DWTS” pro wrote in the caption. “I focused on all the parts about it I didn’t like. It was actually @daniellakaragach who convinced me to post it at the time (🫶🏻).”

Slater continued, “I just stumbled across this photo again and I was pleasantly surprised at how much my mentality has changed. I didn’t see the same thing I saw back then, this time I saw a very feminine woman, who is strong and beautifully made.”

She noted, “I honestly could cry writing this, I never talked about myself this way ever. I don’t know why I was so hard on myself, or why anybody is for that matter. All I do know is we have these bodies and these faces for all of this life, so looking and talking to yourself with respect and through a lens of love is everything.”

Slater went on to share how she now sees “a different girl” in the photo, noting, “my perspective has shifted.”

“But I guess more accurately, it’s not a different girl in the photo, it’s a different girl looking at it. One with a healthier mentality, more self compassion and who is now the biggest champion for herself,” she explained. “It’s a beautiful feeling 🤍.”

Emma Slater Says It Takes Practice: ‘You Are Beautiful the Way You Are’

Slater explained more in a comment on the post, sharing how she has had to find her way to loving herself.

“About a year ago I finally decided I didn’t like the way I talked abut myself and enough was enough. I made a conscious effort over the last year I would let go of focusing on what I disliked about myself, and to start to focus on what I cherished, what I saw beauty in,” she explained.

Slater shared, “I stopped myself from picking apart my looks in the mirror. I found love for the things I literally never thought I could love about myself. The shift inside me has been crazy, and so needed.”

She added, “All this to say, it is a practice. You can decide you’re going to love the way you love and accept it. You can smile in the mirror at yourself instead of counting all your dislikes. You are beautiful the way you were made but don’t take it from me, take it from yourself! ❤️”

Fans lit up the comments with praise for the “DWTS” pro’s positive outlook. Her boyfriend and fellow dance pro Alan Bersten wrote: “You’re breathtaking. You are beautiful inside and out, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life.”
