DWTS Pro Had a ‘Hard’ Time Being Cut From Main Cast

Longtime “Dancing With the Stars” pro Sasha Farber shared how he felt when he was told that he wouldn’t be a pro on season 33.

On the December 9 episode of the “Lightweights” podcast, Farber said he heard his fate from producer Deena Katz.

Fans Concerned About DWTS Pro Sasha Farber

“I got a call and it was like, ‘Sash, I’m so sorry. I don’t have anyone for you this season,'” Farber recalled. “And it hurts because you know, you give everything. Like this is my life. I love it. And she’s like, ‘but you know, we love you and we want you to do troupe,'” he continued.

“I think part being part of such an incredible family, you would do anything for it because it’s family.
And I was like, ‘you know what? Yeah, I would still love to be part of the show.’ And I love the show.
And I’ve actually, to be honest, when I first started the show, I think right about now, I’ve done as much troupe as I’ve been pro,” Farber explained.

Farber said that he had agreed to do troupe because he still wanted to be part of the show. He explained that he didn’t feel as though he was being “demoted” and that he understands that finding him a partner can be challenging because he’s “short.”

Sasha Farber Felt Sad When the DWTS Cast Went to ‘Good Morning America’ Without Him

Though he was content being part of the troupe on season 33, Farber said that he was really sad knowing that the rest of his friends were in New York for “Good Morning America” for the cast reveal.

“It was like the last straw. And you know, it was a hard night because I know everyone was at ‘Good Morning America.’ And I’m like, ‘oh, right about now, they’re doing like the cast meet,’ where we usually go upstairs in the hotel and everyone, all the celebrities meet everyone and we’re all there,” he explained.

“I remember sitting outside and I called my ex-wife, Emma [Slater], because we still talk, we’re friends and we’re supportive of each other. And I was just like, ‘how’s everything going? You guys must have just had the cast dinner.’ And she’s like, ‘yeah, how are you feeling?’ And I was like, ‘oh, this is hard. Like I wish I was there. I miss it.’

Farber said Slater encouraged him to stay positive because he was “still on the show” and would still be “on TV.” After the call, Farber tried to sleep, but he ended up getting a last-minute call from Katz.

Farber had mere minutes to get ready and get to the airport when he found out that “Bachelorette” Jenn Tran would be his partner.

Sasha Farber & Jenn Tran Developed a Special Bond on DWTS

Farber and Tran hit it off almost instantly. Over the course of the season, the two ended up growing close and it’s possible their friendship turned into something more.

Since being eliminated (they finished in 7th place), Farber and Tran have been inseparable. In fact, Tran has been staying in Farber’s home in California while she figures out her next move.

“He’s been a really great roommate who feeds me. You know, I get some animal therapy from his dogs, who are really cute. So yeah, he’s been a really good roommate. The best roommate I’ve had yet,” Tran told People magazine.

The two haven’t confirmed or denied whether or not they are dating, but they’ve certainly been playing into the rumors at the very least.
