So far, so good... That's been the consensus whenever Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean have been mentioned. They've played their first NFL season like two Philadelphia Eagles who are wise beyond their years. If we tuned into our first Birds game and didn't know any better (and had no idea who these guys were), we'd assume they were seasoned veterans.
That's perhaps the best compliment we can give them.
It's funny how things work. As we neared the 2024 NFL Draft, we thought it was impossible that Quinyon Mitchell would slide to the Eagles at the 22nd overall selection. We thought it was more than impossible that Philly could acquire Q AND Cooper DeJean.
What can we say? Our Birds are fortunate. Both were named as AP Awards finalists, but the honor was given to another budding star.
Jared Verse edges out Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean for the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
Yeah, Jared Verse ticked us off and we cheered when Jalen Carter confronted him. We have to give the L.A. Rams rookie credit though. He showed up vs. the Birds during the Divisional Round. He's the NFL's Defensive Rookie Year Award winner, but Coop and Q most certainly shouldn't hang there heads.
As long as these two stay healthy they'll enjoy fantastic careers and dominate for years upon years to come. Both have pieced together a fantastic start. The best is yet to come. We're witnessing greatness, and we're glad they're both here.
