Eagles' freak rookie WR reels in first career touchdown in dominant win over Cowboys

At 6-foot-6 and 231 pounds, Philadelphia Eagles' rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson is an absolute freak.

While his numbers on the stat sheet have yet to show that this season, his ability to block has.

But on Sunday during Philly's dominant 34-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Wilson finally logged something on paper that had his teammates going crazy on the sidelines -- his first career touchdown.

The Eagles faced a 3rd-and-goal situation early in the third quarter when quarterback Jalen Hurts found Wilson in the back of the end zone for a five-yard touchdown.

His first touchdown catch gave the Eagles a comfortable 21-6 lead over the Cowboys.

Wilson was drafted by the Birds in the sixth round at 185th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Due to his size, many experts speculated that the Eagles would switch him to tight end, however, that was never in their plans.

It was also never in Wilson's, who is currently the tallest wide receiver in the NFL and looks at it as a major advantage.

“Being this size and being able to do some of the things I can do with my body and getting in and out of my breaks, and just having super long arms, it’s sometimes an advantage, especially to a lot of smaller corners and smaller defenders,” Wilson said during rookie minicamp. “I’ve just over the years tried to do a lot of training and using my body to my advantage.”

Prior to making the jump to the NFL, Wilson had kicked off his college career at Arizona State before transferring to Florida State in 2022, playing two seasons in Tallahassee.

His best season came right after he transferred when he reeled in 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns for the Seminoles. He finished his college career hauling in a total of 102 catches for 1,757 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.
