Eagles' Howie Roseman leaves door open while addressing Dallas Goedert trade rumors

As the Philadelphia Eagles look to fix their financial situation, rumors of potentially trading away veteran tight end Dallas Goedert have been widely discussed among the NFL community.

During the NFL annual meetings in Florida this week, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman took a moment to address those rumors, but ultimately left the door open.

"There's no update," Roseman said, via The Philadelphia Inquirer. "Obviously, Dallas has been a tremendous player and person for us. ... The opportunities that we got into free agency with Harrison Bryant and [Kylen] Granson were just opportunities we felt were good for our football team. I know certainly that Dallas is a unique player. So really, that's kind of where we're standing."

Roseman is well known for taking phone calls when it comes to trade talks, so it's no surprise that he was noncommital while Goedert's trade rumors.

Goedert will enter the final year of his four-year, $57 million contract extension this fall. He is on tap for $11.8 million against the Eagles' cap but carries $23.8 million in dead money next year due to void years.

If Philly were to trade Goedert before June 1, they would take a $21.39 million in dead money this year. Trading him post-June 1 would reduce it to $7.76 million in dead money, which would save the Eagles $4.05 million this year, which means the rest would fall into next year.

Goedert, 30, finished the 2024 season reeling in 42 passes for 496 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games. While he has been reliable when he is healthy, it's worth noting that he has missed 10 games over the last two seasons with injuries.

Of course, losing Goedert would not be ideal, but the Eagles have Grant Calcaterra to lean on, and the upcoming NFL draft is full of tight end talent to consider.
