Eagles Linked to 6-Time All-Pro Pass Rusher After Winning Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles pulled off arguably one of the biggest free agency signings prior to the 2024 season by landing superstar running back Saquon Barkley.

Eagles Linked to 6-Time All-Pro Pass Rusher After Winning Super Bowl LIX

The former New York Giants running back played a pivotal role in the team winning Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs last month and posted the best numbers of his career. According to a recent report by The Athletic's Dianna Russini, general manager Howie Roseman could be eyeing another splashy transaction this offseason, this time via trade.

With six-time All-Pro pass rusher Myles Garrett requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns, the Eagles are reportedly a team with significant interest.

"I’m told the Philadelphia Eagles’ interest in Garrett is real," Russini wrote. "As fearsome as Philly’s defense was in the Super Bowl, imagine adding the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year?"

The most notable hiccup in the team's pursuit of Garrett, who recorded at least 14 sacks for the fourth straight season, is the fact that the Browns don't want to trade him. It's a stance they are knowingly taking despite the fact he has made it clear he isn't interested in a contract extension.

If the Eagles were to make a move for Garrett, they'd also have to be willing to let some key players from their Super Bowl run move on to afford him. Notable players like EDGE Josh Sweat, defensive lineman Milton Williams and guard Mehki Becton are all in need of contracts.

However, adding Garrett to a defensive unit that sacked Patrick Mahomes six times in the Super Bowl would be quite a jaw-dropping move.

Russini did reveal that if the Browns change their minds, a move could happen as April's NFL draft approaches. Until then, Garrett is stuck in Cleveland.
