Elgton Jenkins Returns While Four Packers Sustain Injuries at Training Camp

Green Bay received fantastic news when it was announced that the Packers newest center, Elgton Jenkins, was returning to practice. His involvement was minimal, but it was a step in the right direction.

Jenkins’ return was met with a few more injuries as the list begins to fill up. Numerous players have yet to practice, with a few more names being sidelined for the time being.

Marshawn Lloyd Headlines an Injury Report Featuring Two Receivers

The Marhsawn Lloyd injury was the talk of practice. Training camp on Monday, July 28 saw Nate Hobbs pulled aside by Matt LaFleur once again. Hobbs promised he would tone it down, something that LaFleur asked of him just a few days ago.

Matt Schneidman ran down the timetable as Hobbs first took out Dontayvion Wicks on Friday, July 25. He then spoke to the receivers on Sunday, July 27, letting them know it’s nothing personal.

Ultimately, Hobbs ended up being a hot topic again as hit Lloyd low. Lloyd has yet to get anything going in his Packers career as the 24-year-old only played in one game last season. He was primed to be a key backup to Josh Jacobs, who had quite the workload last season.

Andy Herman reported both Wicks and Malik Heath’s injuries. While neither may be top receivers on the team, they’re crucial depth pieces that are needed with such a young receiving core.

Wicks was back on the field after Friday’s dilemma, but he left practice early on Monday, July 28. Herman reported that he wasn’t part of any team drills, though a potential injury is unknown at this time.

Thankfully for Heath, it was nothing serious. The third-year receiver simply had the wind knocked out of him after he fell on the football. It may have been an injury scare at the time, but he should be a full participant the next time the Packers take the field.

The final injury was reported by Ezeir Cameron. 25-year-old Brenton Cox Jr. was looked at during practice, though he was able to walk under his own power.

Other Key Injury Notes

The Lloyd injury is one to keep an eye on knowing his history, but the other three don’t seem to be anything serious. The Packers would hate to lose another receiver, as Christian Watson is still nowhere near returning.

Watson is one of three players to remain sidelined. There aren’t too many Packers who haven’t taken the field at training camp, but it’s no surprise to see that he is one of them.

Jordan Love had Savion Williams back as the 2025 3rd round pick cleared concussion protocol. He was a full participant in 11-on-11 drills, unlike Jenkins.

Some videos surfaced of Jenkins at practice, with Herman confirming he did not participate in 11-on-11’s. It’s no surprise to see the team ease him back into action, especially with a position change incoming.

A key defensive piece is Quay Walker. The Packers 2022 1st round pick underwent surgery in the offseason as he continues to ramp up his routine. While he sat out of 11-on-11 work, he is nearing a return to being a full participant.
