On Thursday, ESPN named the final moves that each NFL team should make this offseason and their suggestion for the Kansas City Chiefs involves former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Trey Smith.

ESPN makes smart suggestion for the Chiefs and former Tennessee Vols OL Trey Smith

ESPN thinks the Chiefs should extend Smith's contract before the start of the 2024 season.

Smith, a sixth round selection by the Chiefs in the 2021 NFL Draft, is set to be a free agent after 2024.

From ESPN: Extend C Creed Humphrey and RG Trey Smith. This one is pretty easy. The Chiefs may have the best interior offensive line in the league now that Jason Kelce has retired, but both Humphrey and Smith see their contracts end after the 2024 season. Kansas City needs to lock down its offensive line for the next few years and keep Humphrey and Smith through their primes.

Smith has been one of the biggest bargains in the NFL over the last three seasons (Smith has earned just north of $3 million total since his rookie season).

The former Vol was viewed as a first round talent coming out of Tennessee, but he slipped to the later rounds of the draft due to concerns over blood clots he dealt with during his time in Knoxville.

Despite the health concerns, Smith has been remarkably durable for Kansas City, starting 50 games for the Chiefs since entering the league in 2021.

Smith seems genuinely happy to be in Kansas City (and why wouldn't he be....he already has two Super Bowl rings), but because he's been vastly underpaid the last three years, he might opt to explore free agency instead of signing an early extension with the Chiefs.
