Just like every other NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles are always looking for ways to perfect their roster, especially ahead of training camp battles.
ESPN's Aaron Schultz named one last signing that every team across the league should make before July's training camp.
For Philly, Schultz said the Eagles should sign safety Eddie Jackson.
Schultz believes that the former Chicago Bears star could be the guy to bolster the Eagles' lackluster depth at safety:
What the Eagles could use is defensive depth. At safety, for example, Sydney Brown is coming back from an ACL injury suffered late last season, leaving little depth behind C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship. Jackson, a former Bears star, would help stabilize the unit. He could play strong safety if Gardner-Johnson lines up in the slot, or he might even beat out Blankenship for the free safety position.
Jackson, 30, was originally selected by the Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and had been with them ever since before he became a free agent in March.
Through seven seasons, Jackson started 118 of 124 career games for Chicago, registering a total of 15 interceptions, 44 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles and 459 tackles.
This past year was the only season he did not start every single game and logged 37 tackles and one interception.
The upside to signing Jackson is that he is a veteran and would already be familiar with the Eagles' defense after having played two seasons under Vic Fangio in Chicago.
The downside is that the Eagles don't really need another defensive back with 19 already competing for a roster spot.
It's also worth mentioning that several Eagles have been cross-training between the safety and cornerback positions, including, Cooper DeJean, Avonte Maddox and James Bradberry.
If the Eagles make "one last move" before training camp, it should be to sign another linebacker.
