The Denver Broncos will undergo an offensive upgrade after Evan Engram’s addition. His 963 receiving yards in 2023 prove that he can provide much-needed production from a position the Broncos have struggled in a while.
The two-time Pro Bowler will deliver maximum effort to help a playoff team like Denver perform better in 2025. However, as he details the Broncos’ commitment to their craft, Engram might have ruffled some feathers with his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Conversely, his statement during the post-practice press conference highlighted Denver’s obsession with progress.
“I tell my family, it’s hard to be the first one in the building. I’m used to being the first one. In Jacksonville, I was always the first one; it was really easy. In here, it’s kinda tough. A lot of guys are doing it at the highest level. It’s just a contagious environment, and that we all wanna get better and we all have high standards that we all wanna achieve together,” the veteran entering his ninth NFL season said.
Evan Engram suffered a tough ending in Jacksonville, finishing with 365 receiving yards and a touchdown in a season marred by hamstring and torn labrum injuries. He gets a fresh start with the Broncos, and he feels welcome in this new environment.
Evan Engram says his favorite thing about being a Bronco is the culture:

“The way that this team connects. They push each other, the way they challenge each other. The way that we bonded. The standard that we have for ourselves. The camaraderie we have, the laughs that we have, it’s an incredible locker room, a lot of great leaders,” Evan Engram said.
ESPN Writer Identifies Evan Engram as One of the Players Under Most Pressure
The expectations for Evan Engram are high, considering he will fulfill the “joker” role in Sean Payton’s offense. That said, ESPN NFL analyst Bill Barnwell believes that the former Ole Miss standout will be under pressure to deliver for the Broncos in 2025.
Barnwell wrote, “Engram appears to be in line for a role with some verticality up the seam, playing to what was once a 4.42-second 40-yard dash speed. If he develops a quick rapport with Nix and carves out a significant role in the offense, a Broncos team with a quarterback on a rookie deal might not want to mess with a good thing and keep him around for years to come.”
Engram Wore an Interesting Item During the Press Conference
While answering questions from media members, Evan Engram wore a camouflage-inspired Broncos’ Super Bowl 50 hat. DNVR Sports’ Zach Stevens shared that the veteran tight end wore it because it’s a “fire hat.” Likewise, Engram admitted that he bought some Broncos gear after signing a two-year, $23 million contract with the team.

That Super Bowl marked Denver’s third franchise victory in the big game and Peyton Manning’s final performance before retiring. It’s also the last time they reached the playoffs before the Broncos reached last year’s Wild Card Round.
Engram and the Broncos can reach Super Bowl 60 if they’re firing on all cylinders. Before getting there, though, he will feed his appetite for improvement.
“I’m just addicted to getting better. I never wanna put a ceiling or a limit on the evolving of my game. There’s always something I wanna improve. I’m constantly chasing perfection. Obviously, perfection is impossible, but the closer I can get, the more I help my team,” Engram expressed, as posted on the Broncos’ official X account.
