Ex-Raiders RB Joins Ben Johnson on Bears

Las Vegas Raiders under contract: RB Brittain Brown - Sports Illustrated Las Vegas Raiders News, Analysis and More

Brittain Brown’s NFL journey has been anything but conventional. After being drafted as a seventh-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2022 NFL Draft, he was initially viewed as an intriguing project. However, his first season was limited to just six games, and a significant injury kept him sidelined for the entire 2023 season. The Raiders decided to move on from Brown, and he spent the 2024 season on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad.

Despite these setbacks, the 24-year-old running back is getting another shot at the NFL. The Chicago Bears recently signed Brown to a contract, marking a new chapter in his professional career. Under the guidance of Bears’ new head coach Ben Johnson, known for his emphasis on a strong running game, Brown hopes to prove that he can be a productive asset for the team.

While Brown’s career hasn’t taken off as expected, the Bears are hopeful that Johnson’s approach to running the football will help Brown unlock his potential. Johnson’s track record in developing running backs could be just what Brown needs to finally showcase his skills on the field.

Zamir White Impressing Pete Carroll in Seattle

Brown isn’t the only running back from the 2022 Raiders’ draft class making waves. Zamir White, selected by the Raiders in the fourth round that same year, is also turning heads. Despite a challenging start in Las Vegas—where he lost the starting job after Josh Jacobs’ departure—White has been impressing in Seattle, drawing rave reviews from Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.

Carroll had high praise for White, describing him as a "hammer" and applauding his physical running style. "I love having different styles of running backs. His physicality that we’ve been celebrating with him, and we tell him we like the way he runs. Don’t try to be something that you’re not. Run heavy and run thick and tough like he does," Carroll said in a press conference. White's impressive performances in training camp have made him a strong contender for a key role in Seattle’s backfield, likely as a backup to rookie Ashton Jeanty.

Carroll’s Confidence in the Seahawks’ Running Back Group

While White has emerged as a key player, Carroll is pleased with the depth and variety in Seattle's running back room. Carroll praised the mix of running styles within the group, including the power running of White and the quick feet of Sincere McCormick, another underrated player in the group. McCormick, who didn’t see much playtime last season, has shown that he’s got real potential with his natural agility and footwork.

“I’m really happy with the running back group,” Carroll said. “The variety of the styles that the guys have, I love. Zamir [White] kind of stands alone. He’s the biggest and strongest of the group and he really runs tough. … Sincere [McCormick], who didn’t get a lot of playtime last year, did really well when he did. And he’s shown he’s got a real knack, got really, really good quick feet that are natural to the position.”

With the competition heating up in Seattle’s backfield, the running back group faces a tough cut day ahead, but it’s clear that Carroll is excited about the potential of his running backs, including White, McCormick, and others.

As both Brown and White look to make their mark in new environments, the 2025 NFL season promises to offer plenty of opportunities for these talented players to prove themselves. For now, both are on the radar as potential contributors in their respective teams' backfields, with their journeys only just beginning.
