Cheryl Burke is putting an end to speculation about her “new face.” On Sunday, the “Dancing With the Stars” alum took to social media and addressed the negative comments about her appearance.
In a TikTok video, Burke denied claims that her changing appearance was due to illness or the use of the weight loss drug Ozempic.
Let’s just address the elephant in the comment section. I’m not on Ozempic. I’m not sick. I didn’t get a face transplant, and no, I didn’t get a brow lift.
Cheryl Burke Has Had Enough Of Online Hate
Burke went on to say that she’s been getting a lot of “disappointing” comments comparing her current looks to her younger self. The “Dance Moms” alum clapped back that her “old” self no longer exists, especially after everything she’s been through.
I hate to break it to you, but that Cheryl doesn’t exist anymore. The assumptions are just exhausting as hell.
Burke said it was “shocking and hurtful” to see that most of the mean comments were coming from other women.
For Burke, all the changes in her appearance, good or bad, were part of her personal growth. She explained:
I’ve experienced so much trauma, divorce, and this is by no means a pity party. Sobriety, burnout, reinvention, I’ve healed, I’ve lost, I’ve grieved like anybody else. And yeah, maybe it shows, but I’m not sorry for it, not one bit.
Fans React To Burke’s Statement
Fans were quick to react in the comments section following Burke’s statement. While many showed support for the “Dancing With the Stars” alum, others were more critical.
One commenter wrote, “Maybe not Ozempic, but something. And it’s ok. Nothing wrong with getting help to make us better. But to deny is exhausting too. And for the people that need help, you make it seem wrong.”
Another commented, “Just being honest- I genuinely would have never recognized you if your name wasn’t attached to the video. And I watched you for years on DWTS. It’s very clear that your appearance has changed in some way, shape, or form.”
Another wrote, “Ok but Cheryl, you do look so different!,” while another chimed in, “We aren’t projecting, we are noticing.”
On the other hand, some showed their support for Burke. One fan wrote, “If people are talking it means you’re doing something right and they’re just jealous! Keep shining!”
Another commented, “You looked incredible then, and you look incredible now! People don’t understand that when you lose weight, your face changes, that’s normal!”
Another lamented, “People forget that we all grow and change. Yes, you look different but you are still beautiful. Don’t listen to the haters.”
Burke made history as the first female professional to win “Dancing With the Stars” and the first to win back-to-back seasons.
