Season 19 “Dancing With the Stars” finalist Sadie Robertson has spoken out following the news that her grandfather, Phil Robertson, has been diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease.
In a post shared to Instagram on December 7, Sadie discussed seeing the news go public.
“Seeing all of the articles go out yesterday about my grandpa’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis has kept my tears flowing… something about it being public makes it even more real. I’ve been thinking today about our life being so public…. In moments like this, it can feel overwhelming for such bad news to be such public news,” she wrote.
“I’m so proud to be his granddaughter. I’m so proud to have learned how to love the word, honor the word, and teach the word from him,” she continued. “Sad for the days we are in, but grateful for the days we’ve had. Keeping the memories alive, and I’m thankful we filmed a whole tv together of memories. I’ve never rewatched Duck Dynasty until now, and its really special in a whole new way to me,” she added, before thanking fans for their prayers.
Many people will recognize Phil, 76, from his time on the reality show “Duck Dynasty.”

Phil Robertson’s Diagnosis Was Made Public on the Family’s Podcast
The Robertson family went public with the news of Phil’s health on the December 6 episode of the “Unashamed with The Robertson Family” podcast.
“Phil’s not doing well. According to the doctors, they’re sure that he has some sort of blood disease that’s causing all kinds of problems,” Jase Robertson told listeners.
“It’s causing problems with his entire body and he has early stages of Alzheimer’s so if you put those things together, he’s just not doing well. He’s really struggling,” he continued.
Despite Phil not doing great, his sons say that he wants to return to the podcast.
“I’m like ‘Phil, you can barely walk around without you know, crying out in pain and I’m like ‘you know, your memory is not what it once was,'” Jase said.
“You have good days and bad days,” his son Alan Robertson added. “It’s the same with dad. They’re will be some days he’s a little better, you know, a little more witty but other days not so much.”
As for Phil’s prognosis, things aren’t looking good. Jase said that Phil would need a “supernatural intervention” for things to drastically improve.
“We have a team of doctors then we have another set of doctors who are looking at all of the tests and they’re all in agreement that there is no curing what he has. What do you do? We’re trying to make him a little more comfortable,” Jase said.
