Floyd Mayweather has been limited to exhibition fights since his 2017 retirement, but the ex-champion has once more been backed to fight professionally again.
Calling time on his career that year, Mayweather improved his unbeaten record to 50-0 with a dominant knockout win over UFC star, Conor McGregor in the pair’s grudge match.
But before his swan song, Mayweather would finally book a fight for the ages against Manny Pacquiao — landing a decision win over the Filipino megastar over 12 rounds in Las Vegas.
Linked with numerous comebacks in the time since, Grand Rapids native Mayweather is likely to scratch that itch once more, according to Pacquiao’s compatriot.
Floyd Mayweather backed to rematch Manny Pacquiao soon by Mark Magsayo
Despite comfortably defeating the veteran Pacquiao, who will snap his own retirement against Mario Barrios this weekend, Mayweather has been urged to make good on a rematch with ‘Pacman’.
“If Floyd (Mayweather) wants to [fight Manny Pacquiao again he should], yeah — and I’m on the undercard, too,” Magsayo told Seconds Out.
“I think when they fought, it was good,” Magsayo said. “Everybody wants to see that fight again — the rematch.
“I know when that fight [the rematch], he’s (Mayweather) gonna run again. Pacquiao always chases, he always chases,” he added. “
Interestingly, Magsayo’s words have some credence, with Mayweather recently dropping a blockbuster on a rematch with the Philippines veteran.
Floyd Mayweather refuses to make good on Manny Pacquiao rematch
Earlier this year, former multi-weight champion Mayweather hinted that a fight with Pacquiao could be on the horizon once more in another showcase pairing.
But soon thereafter, Mayweather flip-flopped — labelling his long-time rival a coward and a “sore loser”.

“Did I text Stephen A. Smith and say I will fight him [Pacquiao] again? Yeah, but I changed my mind,” Mayweather told Showtime.
“But at this particular time, no, because he’s a sore loser and he’s a coward. If you lost, accept the loss and say, ‘Mayweather, you were the better fighter.'”
