The Denver Broncos selected cornerback Jahdae Barron in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Pairing Barron with Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss creates one of the best cornerback trios in the NFL.
Barron, in his rookie year, will get to learn alongside Surtain and Moss as he transitions to the NFL. With the Broncos having a strong history of elite cornerbacks, there will be plenty of former and current players willing to help Barron acclimate to the NFL.
Former Broncos All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib also provided some advice for the rookie cornerback. During his appearance on DNVR Sports with Bennie Fowler, Talib was asked what kind of advice he'd give to Barron entering the NFL.
Talib gave a simple answer, "You got the cheat code, bro. Follow Surtain around, ask him questions, get his number, and see how to be a pro. He's a good dude, he's not going to stiff-arm you and mislead you on information. Get up under that dude's wing and learn how to be a pro."
Talib also had advice on how to approach entering the league, with what he did when he came to the NFL. Talib said, "I'd tell my guy to reset, that's what I did, I got to the league, and it's like, 'alright, this is what I dreamed of, now I gotta set a new goal. I'm here now, what I wanna do now?'"
Coincidently, both Talib and Barron were both cornerbacks selected 20th overall. Coming into the NFL in 2008, Talib started with the Tampa bay Buccaneers before finding his way to the Broncos where he helped them win a Super Bowl in 2015.
Talib was one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL when he was on the Broncos, and he was a huge reason why Denver was able to win the Super Bowl. He was a five-time Pro Bowler, with four coming in the four years he was in Denver.
Taking advice from such a player makes a ton of sense. Talib's advice to 'reset' when entering the league and go under Surtain's wing is noteworthy advice for Barron to take.
With the successful career of Talib, and Surtain's immense success since joining the Broncos, there is plenty of reason for Barron to listen to Talib's advice when it comes to making it to the NFL.
