Aaron Rodgers is still somehow a free agent, a very strange situation for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers, and everybody else involved.
The Steelers need a starting quarterback, as Mason Rudolph is currently their QB1. Rudolph, who hasn't shown the ability to be a decent quarterback at the NFL level, won't succeed in Pittsburgh.
Sure, the Steelers are typically a very good team and win no matter what, but they've also had much better under center than Rudolph.
In a recent prediction from CBS Sports, they had the Steelers signing Brett Rypien, a former Denver Broncos backup.
The article was focused on finding players outside of Rodgers, and Rypien was one of the five listed as a potential option.

“Upside stands as the main reason why Rypien was chosen over fellow veterans Jeff Driskel, C.J. Beathard and Jeff Driskel. While he hasn't done a lot in the NFL to this point, Rypien is still relatively young (he'll turn 29 in July) and has shown flashes of his potential.
“Last preseason, as a member of the Bears, Rypien went 24 of 34 (a 70.6% completion percentage) with three touchdowns and zero interceptions over four games. He also has four regular-season starts under his belt, posting a 2-2 record,” Brayn DeArdo wrote.
Rypien hasn't shown much in his NFL career, either, even less than Rudolph.
Throughout his four-year career, he's thrown for just 950 yards, four touchdowns, and nine interceptions. If the Steelers run him out there on Sundays, there's a good chance they'd win about four to five games, if they're lucky.
Ultimately, Rodgers has to make his decision, and for the Steelers' sake, they have to be hopeful that it'll be with them.
