Former Broncos Quarterback Signs With Chicago Bears

After spending last season with the Houston Texans, former Denver Broncos starting quarterback Case Keenum has found a new home

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, "Veteran QB Case Keenum is signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the Chicago Bears, per source. Keenum now will help mentor Caleb Williams in Chicago like he did for CJ Stroud in Houston."

Keenum is entering his 12th season in the NFL and will bring valuable experience to the Bears' quarterback room. Despite going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, he has established himself as one of the top mentors at the position.

He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent but only lasted two seasons before beginning his journeyman career. Over the years, Keenum has played for the Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills before returning to Houston last season.

Keenum has started 66 games in his career, 47 of which came over four years from 2016 to 2019. During his best season 2017 with the Vikings, Keenum finished with 3,547 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.

The Broncos rewarded Keenum with a two-year, $36 million contract the following off-season. He finished his lone season in Denver with 3,890 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions.

In 2024, Keenum played sparingly behind Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, appearing in two games and completing 34 of 53 pass attempts for 291 yards. He finished with one touchdown and three interceptions on the season.

After mentoring 2023 No. 2 overall pick Stroud last season, Keenum is expected to take on a similar role for 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams this season.
