Shannon Briggs has shared his verdict on a fantasy showdown between Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali.
Tyson and Ali are two of the greatest heavyweight’s to have ever laced up the gloves, proving their dominance throughout their respective prime years.
Ali rose to fame during the early sixties, capturing world honours for the very first time in 1964 when he put on the performance of a lifetime to stop Sonny Liston in the 6th round of their bout in Miami. He would go on to defeat a number of legendary heavyweights before the end of his career, including the likes of Joe Frazier, Ken Norton and George Foreman.
Tyson began his professional career back in 1985 at just 18-years-old, establishing himself as a serious contender almost immediately. He defeated WBC heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick in November of 1986 to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, a record that remains unbroken to this very day.
In a round of ‘Knockout’ with Mail Sport Boxing, former WBO heavyweight champion made no mistake in backing Ali to prevail in a fantasy showdown with ‘Iron Mike’.
Ali changed the landscape of the sport throughout his storied career, proving to be one of, if not the greatest fighter of all time in the eyes of many.
His unique fighting style, coupled with his extraordinary personality, has led to him becoming an influence on many current and ex-fighters over the years.
After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Ali tragically passed away aged 74-years in 2016, although his legacy lives on to this very day.
