The African Women’s Health Project International Global Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Conference and Honors Celebration will take place July 10 through 12 in various locations around Little Rock and North Little Rock. The event will welcome special guest Dr. Khalilah Camacho Ali.
Born and raised within Chicago’s Nation of Islam community, Ali is an actress, author and martial-arts expert (ninth-degree black belt). She is also the former wife of the late boxer Muhammad Ali, whom she married at age 17. Throughout their 10-year marriage, she provided spiritual guidance and mental and career support to her then-husband.
Founded by Nigerian-born HRH Princess Dr. Moradeun Ogunlana (then-boutique owner living in Little Rock), AWHPI is an international nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and families across Africa and the diaspora. This year’s conference theme is “Accelerating Progress: Women’s Health, Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Development.”
The conference will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions on mental health and women’s health, education, AI technology, economic empowerment and sustainable development, networking opportunities and a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony.
