Despite never meeting his mother, Joan Vassos respectfully attended the ceremony in The Golden Bachelorette scenes, and even got emotional during it. It didn’t seem to change her feelings for Chapple, but the hometown scene was instantly critiqued by fans.
Most viewers deemed the situation inappropriate, especially considering that Joan didn’t seem to know that it was going to happen.
