Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy’s baby boy is a natural performer!
The Dancing With the Stars pros told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview at the 12th Annual Makeup Artists & Hairstylists Guild Awards on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles that their 2-year-old son Rome "loves to dance."
The married couple, also hosts of the award ceremony, opened up about their son’s recent milestones with Johnson saying, "He is just talking so much, which is wild how quickly it just shifts when they start picking up on so many words. His big milestone that I think we're both really proud of, he can count to 10, which is crazy."
She continued to say that they’re "really proud of him" and added that the toddler has also taken up swimming and gymnastics.
"It is the absolute best getting to raise him," said the proud mom.
Johnson then revealed that Rome "loves to move," to which Chmerkovskiy said, "He loves to dance, loves to sing. He is a performer."
But that’s not all, the 2-year-old is also a big fan of watching his parents, who are both Mirrorball champions, on the hit dance competition series.
"What's fun is he loves watching us dance," Johnson said. "If we ever have a video of us dancing, he loves watching it over and over and over again. So we'll see what he wants to do."
The two first met on Dancing with the Stars when Johnson joined the show as a troupe member in 2014. After a few years of dating — with a brief break in between — they tied the knot in April 2019.
Three years later, the couple exclusively revealed to PEOPLE that they were going to become parents. They welcomed their son in January 2023.
On Sunday, Feb. 16, the proud parents raaved about their son’s second birthday party in a joint Instagram post. Sharing a video of the race car-themed festivities, they wrote, "Two Fast 🏎️💨🏁 We were able to celebrate Rome turning 2 last weekend and it was overwhelming to see so many people show up for our sweet boy."
