Teen Mom's Amber Portwood Confirms She's Dating a New Man | Us Weekly

It's now time for Amber Portwood to discuss her most recent romance. The actress of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter recently told fans about her new romance in a TikTok Live session. According to the 35-year-old:

"I've been dating for over a month now. It's a good thing. He's got a job for 20-something years, same exact job"

The MTV personality isn't revealing photos or her boyfriend's identity yet. She did, however, mention that he resides in the mountains of North Carolina and that it was his supposedly unmatchable charisma that fully won her over. In 2009, Portwood made her television debut in 16 and Pregnant, which followed the birth of her daughter Leah with her ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley.

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter viewers have since followed her through a number of romances, culminating in her most recent, painful breakup with Gary Wayt in 2024.

Following a high-profile missing person event, the couple called it quits on their engagement. The connection between Portwood and her daughter Leah, who has turned away from her mother, has also been difficult. Fans are curious as to whether this new romance will be depicted on TV, given that Teen Mom cameras may return for next season.

Portwood kept most details private, but couldn't hide her excitement about certain qualities. She emphasized his work stability and mentioned his distinctive regional accent.

"He's got this thick accent, and he's super sweet to me," she told fans during the live stream.

The reality star chose not to share his name or post couple photos on social media. This approach marks a change from her previous relationships that played out publicly.

Portwood's previous engagement to Gary Wayt ended in turmoil in 2024. The Bryson City Police Department confirmed Wayt was found safe after Portwood reported him missing in June 2024.

The breakup left Portwood emotionally devastated. She told Teen Mom: The Next Chapter executive producer Kiki Malone during a September episode that that man broke her heart:

"I was stable. Right now, this is the first time in years in my life... I am not f***ing right because a man put a ring on my finger."

She described their connection as genuine love, making the split even more painful.

Portwood has also dealt with relationship issues closer to home. Her daughter Leah has chosen to limit contact with her mother. Portwood admitted during a February episode:

"With my daughter, she doesn't want to be around me, I've never been a mom that didn't care. Just a f***ed up mom."

This family tension has added stress to Portwood's life as she works to rebuild personal relationships.

What’s next for Teen Mom: The Next Chapter?

MTV hasn't announced plans for new Teen Mom seasons yet. Sources suggest Portwood has been less involved with filming recently. The ongoing conflicts with Gary Shirley and challenges with Leah have made her hesitant about continuing with the show.

Whether cameras will capture this new relationship remains unclear as the franchise evaluates its future direction.
