‘He’s going to make this team’ - veteran NFL analyst makes bold prediction for one Buccaneer undrafted free agent

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had, what many experts have said, what was an excellent draft last week in Green Bay, netting seven players who could all find themselves in the mix for roster spots by the time the preseason is over and the team cuts their roster down to 53.

However, one more rookie could find his way onto the team, and hit's someone who could have a sizeable impact, literally and figuratively. Florida DT Desmond Watson was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent last week.

Watson, who reached a reported weight of 464 pounds this offseason, is someone who NFL Network and Fox Sports analyst Brian Baldinger believes will make the Bucs' roster.

"He's gonna be next to Vita Vea, Calijah Kancey. He's going to make this team.

Baldinger highlighted a number of attributes and strengths of Watson, but one thing he mentioned that hasn't been brought up as much with his weight is his height and length. At 6'6", Watson is a threat to disrupt short passes over the middle.

"He's six-six. When he puts his paw up in the air, it's like he's got a first baseman's mitt on him right here. Get in the passing lane. Can't get there? Get the first baseman's mitt up and bat the ball down."

Watson said this week that his most recent weigh in had him at 437 pounds, which is a significant drop from the previously listed 464 pounds. That will certainly be the main challenge for him is keeping that weight at the level that the Bucs want it to be at.

But it he can, it seems like his chances of coming to Tampa and sticking are promising. With the size, strength, and quickness for his size that he possesses, he could become an intriguing piece of Todd Bowles' defensive line rotation.
