Putting On A Brave Face

Us Weekly reported that Chmerkovskiy looked back at some of his performances. On Sunday, March 31, he posted an impromptu performance with his brother, Maks, on his Instagram Stories. He had to go through with the performance after his wife, Jenna Johnson, suffered a miscarriage. It was a difficult decision since he didn’t want to leave his wife alone. He still has difficult feelings over this performance to this day.

“Now, it’s a few years removed, and we have a beautiful boy, but this was that ‘the show must go on’ moment that I now am so torn about,” Chmerkovskiy noted. “My wife was literally in the room upstairs in absolute agony emotionally and physically, and I had never personally felt such loss myself. I was numb, I was empty, and all I could think about was Jenna.”

Chmerkovskiy knew he had to perform because it was his job. “People paid money, people made plans, people were counting on me,” he added. However, the DWTS star doesn’t have regrets about making this decision. Chmerkovskiy was there for Johnson afterward.

In his Instagram Story, Chmerkovskiy expressed his difficult feelings. He admitted that he didn’t tell anyone else, not even his brother. Instead, he said that Johnson injured her neck. Chmerkovskiy told Maks, “But man… what a moment, and how confusing it all is,” he noted. The couple met while performing together on DWTS.

The two started dating in 2015 and wed in 2019. Chmerkovskiy and Johnson share a son, Rome. In the meantime, there have been rumors that Chmerkovskiy could consider retiring from DWTS. But he hasn’t hung up his dancing shoes yet.
