I can't articulate'... Watch Mike Tyson's squeamish reaction to liver kick KO in MMA fight

Given his reputation as one of the most devastating knockout artists in boxing history, you’d think that Mike Tyson would be more than accustomed to seeing nasty fight-ending finishes.

Yet the legendary former world champion couldn’t believe what he was watching when in 2019, he joined the PFL for a special throw-back watch party.

Mike Tyson’s squeamish reaction to nasty liver kick KO in MMA fight

A few years ago, Mike Tyson was featured as a special guest on a PFL promotional party and watched on as Sadibou ‘The Swedish Denzel Washington’ Sy faced American David ‘Bulldog’ Michaud.

Sy was a slight favorite heading into that matchup, although the wider MMA community was widely expecting an underdog upset with 78% of Tapology users predicting a win for Michaud.

It certainly didn’t take long for the bookies to be proven right, with Sy landing a jab and then a low kick before catching Michaud coming in with a picture-perfect left kick to the body.

The kick landed flush to the liver, causing the American to crumple to the canvas writhing in pain for what remains the single fastest KO in PFL welterweight history – clocking in at only 17 seconds.

“Aw man, right to the side of the liver – ohhh stop!” yelled out Mike Tyson as he watched Sy follow up with ground and pound.

“Ohhh m——-, he’s tough though he’s still trying to fight even though he’s paralyzed.”

As Tyson attempted to explain what happens when a fighter gets hit so ferociously to the liver, his words failed him, simply acknowledging that you can’t describe the pain without having felt it yourself.

“Listen, you can’t articulate it [how much it hurts], it’s like you’re being cut or like somebody is pulling your lungs out – I can’t even articulate it.

“You can’t breathe, you can’t go to the bathroom, you’re constipated, you can’t urinate, you can’t do nothing… You feel all of your body fluids stop [moving].”

Sadibou Sy returns to action in PFL World Middleweight Tournament

Sadibou Sy’s next fight has not yet been officially confirmed; however, the MMA promotion has revealed that ‘Swedish Denzel’ will feature in the latest edition of the PFL World Tournament.

The first round of the middleweight tournament is currently scheduled for Friday, April 18, and will take place in Orlando, Florida.

Sy represents one of the eight fighters who will be in the mix: joining the likes of Impa Kasanganay, Mike Shipman, Fabian Edwards, Aaron Jeffery, Josh Silveira, Murad Ramazanov, and Dalton Rosta.

As of March 1, there are conflicting reports that Sy will take on either Canadian contender Aaron Jeffery, or American standout Dalton Rosta in the opening round.

Sadibou Sy will enter the 2025 tournament with a promotional record of 11-6-2 (1 NC) and a professional record of 17-8-2 (1 NC) – he scored an R3 KO over Andrew Sanchez in his last bout.
