At the height of his career, Mike Tyson was the most formidable fighter to walk the planet.
Tyson was just 18-years-old when he made his professional boxing debut back in 1985, winning his first nineteen bouts via knockout with twelve of these victories coming in the opening round.
He wrote his name into boxing history for the first time in 1986 when he defeated WBC heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick in the 2nd round of their bout in Las Vegas, becoming the youngest heavyweight champion of all time in the process.
In the year that followed his historic victory over Berbick, ‘Iron Mike’ would defeat WBA champion James Smith and IBF champion Tony Tucker respectively to capture achieved undisputed status at heavyweight just one month after his 21st birthday.
After coming up against an abundance of tough heavyweights during his storied career, Tyson revealed to The Ring that Jose Ribalta was the opponent who had the best chin overall, as he claims he hit the Cuban with ‘everything’.
“I hit Jose Ribalta with everything, and he took everything and kept coming back for more.”
Tyson faced Ribalta in his 26th career outing back in August of 1986, stopping the Cuban in the tenth and final round of their bout in Atlantic City.
Aside from his brave performance against Tyson, Ribalta would go on to face a number of legendary heavyweight fighters before his retirement, including Larry Holmes, Vitali Klitschko and Tim Witherspoon.
As for Tyson, the 58-year-old would make a sensational return to the sport last November when he clashed with Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Texas, putting an end to just shy of two decades of inactivity.
