'I was petrified' - Mike Tyson names the one man in boxing who simply terrified him

Over the course of his career, Iron Mike won two WBA Heavyweight Championships, two WBC Heavyweight Championships, and one IBF Heavyweight Championship. He retired with a record of 50-7-2, and won his first 19 professional bouts via knockout, so it is hard to imagine him being intimidated by anyone.

Tyson was ranked as the fifth-toughest boxer of all time, and was one of the best to ever do it, but he revealed in his book titled 'Iron Ambition: My Life with Cus d'Amato', the one person that he was afraid of.

In his book, Tyson revealed that he was afraid to be alone with d'Amato, who would get into his head and mess with his emotions.

What Mike Tyson Said About Most-Feared Man

Even Mike Tyson was scared to be alone with him

Mike Tyson

"People saw the celebratory moments during my big knockout wins, but they didn't see how Cus talked to me in the locker room. He would make me feel like c***, play with my emotions. He could put bad things in my head every day."

During the documentary 'Tyson', which was released in 2008, Mike Tyson got emotional when talking about his mentor, and credited him with building up his confidence and making him into the world champion that he became.

He said: "I turned my whole life over to boxing. I turned into a complete animal, I turned into a disciplinarian. This guy had me cleaning my room. He just brainwashed me so much that if he told me to bite, I'd bite. If he told me anything, I was like his dog. He broke me down and rebuilt me. I was just like a totally different person."
