I’m Concerned The Bachelor Franchise May Go Rogue To Cast The Next Golden Bachelor (It Should Be Pascal Ibgui)

The Bachelor franchise could go rogue with the next leading man of The Golden Bachelor, and I’m concerned the difficulty of the choice may push producers away from my ideal candidate, Pascal Ibgui. Throughout Bachelor history, there have been several leads who weren’t part of the franchise beforehand. In recent years, only a few leads have failed to appear on one of the franchise’s shows before landing a leading role. Matt James, the lead of The Bachelor season 25, was chosen to participate in a season of The Bachelorette before becoming the lead, but didn’t because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other than Matt, Gerry Turner has been the only lead of a Bachelor franchise show in recent years who wasn’t affiliated with the franchise before his turn as the lead. Gerry was cast to lead The Golden Bachelor season 1, as there were no available former contestants who met the age requirements for the Golden series. While Gerry may have been cast to be part of the series, as soon as he became The Golden Bachelor, there were options for The Golden Bachelorette that came from his cast. The next Golden Bachelor shouldn’t be quite as difficult to search for.

The Golden Bachelor Season 2’s Production Schedule Has Been Revealed

The Show Will Be Filming In The Spring

Although The Golden Bachelor season 2 likely won’t be premiering for close to a year from now, the show’s production schedule has been released. Many are clamoring for more Golden content after The Golden Bachelorette ended with Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple engaged. Despite knowing that the first seasons of the Golden shows were released a year apart, many were hopeful the production schedule would move things up so there would be another season of the exciting series early in the new year. With The Golden Bachelor production schedule out, there should be an announcement about the next lead soon.

Even with so much time before the next season of The Golden Bachelor is released, there are a lot of decisions to be made before the season’s filming, like the lead of the next installment of the franchise. There are some faces Bachelor Nation would love to see, some they wouldn’t be interested in, and some they would never see coming. Despite the lead usually being picked from the last season of the opposite series, The Golden Bachelor season 2’s lead could be someone that Bachelor Nation is entirely unaware of. I have my picks for the next Golden lead.

Bachelor Nation Is Divided Regarding The Next Lead

Some Are Interested In A Familiar Face, Some Want A New Personality

Although there are some Bachelor Nation fans who don’t have a stake in the next lead of the franchise, the vast majority of viewers are already speculating about who will be in the driver’s seat for The Golden Bachelor season 2. With some ready to see a familiar face, there are a few contenders from Joan’s season of The Golden Bachelorette who have been making headlines. While Jordan Heller isn’t the most memorable Golden contestant, he appears like he’d made a great lead. Along with Jodan is Charles Ling, who won the hearts of Bachelor Nation being kind and genuine.

While Jordan and Charles are both great choices, many were convinced that Mark Anderson would be the best choice for the next Golden Bachelor lead. Mark, The Bachelor season 28’s Kelsey Anderson’s father, was someone Bachelor Nation begged to see on The Golden Bachelorette , and his appearance wasn’t disappointing. Though many speculated throughout the season that Mark was a producer plant, they were happy to see him and hoped for the best for him. Since leaving The Golden Bachelorette, Mark met One Tree Hill actress Barbara Alyn Woods and the pair have started dating, taking him out of the running.

I Think Pascal Ibgui Is The Best Option For The Golden Bachelor

His Self-Interest Makes Him A Great Candidate

Although he may not be everyone’s pick, I’m hopeful to see Pascal as the next Golden Bachelor. While he has yet to confirm that he’d be interested in taking on the role, I think Pascal’s self-interest and understanding of what he wants in life would make him a great lead. The driving force of The Golden Bachelor and subsequent shows is meant to be the lead finding love, and Pascal would know what he liked, what he didn’t, and wouldn’t be afraid to speak up about it throughout the process. I’d love to see him have the chance to lead.

While Pascal seems like a great choice to me, I understand some have issues with him being the lead for a future season. Pascal’s time on The Golden Bachelorette wasn’t great for everyone involved, but it was an interesting look at the way that the audience was perceiving Pascal. Rather than looking at him as someone who didn’t want to cause unnecessary pain or bring turmoil to someone else when he wasn’t feeling strongly, many Golden Bachelorette viewers saw him as a villain for breaking Joan’s heart. As a guy who speaks his mind, Pascal seems like a great choice.

Could The Bachelor Casting Team Find Another Unknown Like Gerry Turner?

Casting An Unknown Could Be A Mistake

Although I’d like to see Pascal in the leading role, I’m worried about what Bachelor producers and casting professionals will look for. While I believe they’ll want to see the best possible person in the leading role, the Golden Bachelor contenders they’ve been left with from Joan’s season may not be what they’re interested in for the next season. I’m worried that producers could cast someone unknown like Gerry, who may not fit the role in the way Bachelor Nation would be interested in. Even if The Golden Bachelor producers like an unknown, viewers may not be happy with one.

While Gerry’s season of The Golden Bachelor was full of highs, its lows were some of the lowest moments the franchise has ever seen. The Golden Bachelor ended with an engagement, but the marriage between Gerry and Theresa Nist was over within three months of their live TV wedding. Despite knowing that things wouldn’t necessarily happen in the same way, casting someone from outside the franchise as the lead led to a difficult end on the first season, which could make it tough to sell to viewers for a second. I’m hopeful The Golden Bachelor season 2 works out well.
