Cam Ward Scouting Report | NFL Draft 2025

The Cleveland Browns have a litany of roster spots to fill this offseason, not the least of which is under center.

The Browns need a quarterback after the most recent Achilles tear to the unreliable Deshaun Watson. Whether it's a fill-in stopgap veteran player or a young player through the draft, Cleveland needs a body.

And Pro Football Network thinks it knows who.

Using its Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator, the Browns are predicted to select Miami's Cam Ward at No. 2 after the Titans move on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders with the first overall pick.

With every arm angle and endless reserves of velocity at his disposal, Cam Ward is the most exciting quarterback in college football. He also boasts impressive athleticism, allowing him to make rushers miss while also boasting a dense frame that can shake weaker sack attempts.

Unfortunately, Ward's urge to create also leads to a bevy of bad habits, including cross-body and cross-field attempts into traffic. He also struggles to take care of the ball inside of the pocket while creating.

The commentary on Ward continues by saying his biggest issue is that he "lives and dies by the big play ... and his game resembles Zach Wilson's."

Those aren't words that should excite Browns fans. But PFN follows that with, "Ward likely needs a runway to sit behind a bridge quarterback. If afforded that, he has the highest ceiling in this class by a wide margin."

If Cleveland can get a veteran for a couple of seasons while Ward sits and learns, the Browns could *maybe* have found their franchise quarterback.
