"It's Going To Be Bad": The Golden Bachelor Season 2 Star Mel Owens' Ex-Wife Predicts Failure After Ageist Comments Backlash

The Golden Bachelor season 2 star Mel Owens' ex-wife is speaking out after fierce backlash against ageist comments that he made about his cast of women.

Although there were rumors that Mel would be replaced as The Golden Bachelor season 2 lead, the Daily Mail claims to have confirmed that his season will begin filming later this summer.

One person who isn't happy about it is Mel's ex-wife, Fabiana Owens. Mel was married to Fabiana, 46, for 17 years, and they have two teenage sons. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024 after a four-year court battle.

In regard to Mel's role as the Golden Bachelor lead, Fabiana issued a warning and told the Daily Mail"Good luck. I mean, it's going to be bad. But anyway, I don't want to be involved in this."

Good luck. I mean, it's going to be bad. But anyway, I don't want to be involved in this.

Mel Has Faced A Lot Of Backlash

Ever since the news broke about Mel's ageist comments about his Golden Bachelor cast, he's faced so much backlash, and fans of the show have called for him to be fired. Fabiana's prediction that Mel's season is going to be bad is another red flag. She also seems to want nothing to do with him.

Of course, because Fabiana is his ex-wife, it's possible that she and Mel simply don't get along. However, she could've refused to comment rather than speak out against him. It's interesting because Mel is the first Golden franchise lead who's divorced rather than widowed like season 1 star Gerry Turner and The Golden Bachelorette's Joan Vassos.

Our Take On Mel's Ex-Wife's Warning About The Golden Bachelor

Mel Should Be Replaced As The Lead

Mel's ex-wife's comments are another reason that he should be replaced as The Golden Bachelor. Her warning that the show will most likely fail is further proof that he wasn't the right choice for the lead, and he should be replaced. It's concerning that Fabiana felt the need to speak out against him.

I hope that The Golden Bachelor season 2 reconsiders its decision to keep Mel as the lead. While there's nothing wrong with his preference for dating younger women in real life, it doesn't make any sense for him to be the star of a show whose premise is to help older people find loveThe Golden Bachelor should replace Mel before it's too late.
