Jake Paul has been linked to a showdown with Floyd Mayweather.
Paul is currently searching for his next opponent following his controversial bout with boxing legend Mike Tyson at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in November.
It saw 58-year-old Tyson competing in his first professional bout for nearly two decades, and ended with Paul claiming a one-sided unanimous decision victory.
Paul then looked set for a shock bout against pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez, before the bout fell through at the 11th hour after Canelo instead opted to sign with Riyadh Season in order to secure a fight against Terence Crawford.
It means Paul’s next move is still unknown, with a fight against Mayweather repeatedly rumoured over the past few years.
Mayweather retired from the sport back in 2017, having become a five-weight world champion and put together a perfect undefeated record of 50-0.
He has since had a number of exhibition bouts, with one of them being against Jake’s brother Logan back in June 2021. They fought over eight rounds, with no winner declared at the conclusion of the bout.
Mayweather has repeatedly stated that he feels a fight against Jake would be easy, but ‘The Problem Child’ has now claimed the one demand that his rival made that makes a fight impossible to ever happen.
“He [Mayweather] wouldn’t sign. He said I had to weigh 160. It’s not even physically possible.”
While a Paul vs Mayweather fight seems unlikely to happen, a three-weight world champion has offered to come out of retirement in order to face the Youtuber-turned-boxer and gain revenge for Tyson.
