Former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew has told Jake Paul he would be "eaten alive" if the pair ever met in the ring.
'The Problem Child' is currently preparing for his fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson. The showdown between the pair is scheduled to take place on November 15 at the AT&T Arena in Arlington, Texas in front of up to 90,000 fans. Paul made his professional boxing debut four years ago and has already faced the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz. With a record of 10-1, his only defeat in the sport came on points against Tommy Fury last year.
Paul and Tyson were supposed to fight back in July, but 'Iron Mike' forced to pull out of the contest after suffering an ulcer flare up. The boxing icon was forced to stop training, but has since returned to the gym and insists he will be fit to return to the ring next month.
Since the confirmation of the bout, many have slammed the decision to go ahead with the fight, especially due to the 31 year age gap. Individuals also remain concerned for Tyson's health after the 58-year-old recently admitted he was struggling to walk after sparring.
Given Tyson’s age and question marks over his health, there are fears the bout could be shelved again. However, Paul has insisted his opponent is in good health and enjoying a strong camp. "It's Mike Tyson or nothing," said the Problem Child. "But first and foremost, he's healthy and feeling amazing and doing great in camp."
Previously, Bellew was named as a potential stand-in opponent for Paul if Tyson is unable to fight, but 41-year-old has once again slammed the social media star, calling him to face a legitimate fighter. In an interview with Safest Casino Sites, he said: “Listen, everyone's got a price, but he [Jake Paul] would never fight me, I would eat him alive.
"Just face a real boxer. I'll tell you what, just come over to England, get a licence and try and win an English title. If you can win an English title or the British title, I'll take my hat off to you. Or go do it in the USA, do where you're from. Win the US Cruiserweight title. As soon as he steps in with anyone who has any kind of reasonable boxing experience he's had it. He’s getting taken to school.”
The British boxing hero has previously slammed Paul for going ahead with the Tyson fight and has made it clear he would be willing to step in, provided the price is right. Speaking in September, he said: "I've got no real hunger or desire to face Jake Paul if I'm being totally honest. Do I want to? No, not really. But would I? Yes. Everyone's got a price. I would, yeah, absolutely, but do I want to? Not really, no."
