Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown dream pairing put in elite status among top QB-WR duos

Ever since the Philadelphia Eagles traded their first-round pick in 2022 to secure wide receiver A.J. Brown, the pairing of him and quarterback Jalen Hurts has arguably been the best the franchise has ever seen.

Brown has had three consecutive years of at least 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns in a season. Hurts went from completing just 61% of his passes in 2021 to averaging a completion percentage of 66.8% since the arrival of Brown.

The two together have been one of the best QB-pass catcher pairings in the NFL, and there are no signs of slowing. So, how do the two stack up against each other compared to others in the NFL?

Hurts-Brown ranked against the best passer-pass catching duos in the NFL

PFF writer Trevor Sikkema shared his rankings of the best QB-WR/TE duos in the NFL before the 2025 season. Hurts and Brown were ranked second, just behind Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.

"Brown came in at No. 1 in PFF’s wide receiver rankings, thanks to his dominant 96.5 PFF receiving grade versus single coverage over the past three seasons. Hurts hasn’t always been the most efficient quarterback, but he bounced back from some bad PFF passing grades under pressure to start 2024 and became a Super Bowl champion."

Since joining the Eagles in 2022, Brown has made two Pro Bowls and was the AP's second-team All-Pro selection in all three years in the midnight green uniforms. He has led the team in receiving three straight seasons.

Hurts has also put together quite the resume thanks to his friend with two Pro Bowls and an AP second-team All-Pro selection in 2022.

Statistically, Hurts has shown that he plays better with Brown on the field than when he is out. In Hurts' career, including before Brown joined the team, he has a completion percentage of 60.8%, a quarterback rating of 85.2, with 24 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. With Brown on the field, Hurts has completed 66.3% of his passes with a quarterback rating of 97.9, with 61 touchdowns to 24 interceptions.

It hasn't always been smooth for the two, despite the awesome video of them celebrating Brown's trade to Philadelphia back in 2022. Last year, there were issues of Brown being upset about the lack of targets he was getting from Hurts. Even with that, it appears to have been squashed after winning the Super Bowl.

The best thing that could have happened to Hurts and Brown was to be paired together. They have helped the Eagles make two Super Bowls and win one in just three years together. 2025 should be no exception, as they are ready to continue to own the league through the air.
