When playing pro ball in towns like the City of Brotherly Love, stars must be aware that every word will be dissected. In the same manner that we pick apart play calls and interceptions, we'll be equally attentive to what the Philadelphia Eagles are saying.
Take Jalen Hurts for instance. Typically stoic in his presentation and laid back in his responses, even that has been placed on the debate table.
Does he care? Is he invested? Those are questions we ask ourselves. Sometimes, it's understandable. Sometimes, we ask ourselves if we put too much stock in something.
Jalen Hurts shuts down theories about there being tension between himself and Nick Sirianni.
It feels like we revisit this constantly. Maybe we don't, but it comes up a lot. 'Are Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni in a good place'? What did he mean by that last response?
Following the loss in Tampa, he was asked if he and Sirianni discuss singular messages to deliver to the rest of the team. His response... “We have our moments.”
Maybe that shouldn't have become a story, but you can bet your bottom dollar more discussion ensued. Following his recent sit-down with the media, one that followed Philly's bye week, we can again put the notions about dysfunction to rest (we hope).
“We’re the two leaders of the team. I’m happy and fortunate that we were able to come together in harmony and have the same goal in mind, trying to get this thing right. I got a ton of confidence in him, a ton of confidence in what he brings and everything he’s been able to accomplish."
He continued... “Just continue to press on, on that. Everybody goes through different moments, everybody experiences adversity but we’ve experienced different levels of adversity together. We’re excited for what’s to come.”
Those the words of QB1 himself. He says he and head coach Nick Sirianni enjoyed some "great moments" together during the Week 5 bye week.
So, again we ask the question. Can we finally put this one to bed and discuss more pressing matters like redzone turnovers?
