Jalen Hurts stays late after training camp practice to work with Eagles' young receivers

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is putting in extra work with the Philadelphia Eagles' younger receivers.

Following Friday's training camp practice, NBC Sports' Dave Zangaro shared a video via X/Twitter of Hurts throwing with Jahan Dotson and Ainias Smith.

While A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have the No. 1 and No. 2 wide receiver positions locked down, Smith and Dotson are currently competing with a handful of others for the wide receiver No. 3 job in Philly.

According to what several training camp notes from on-site reporters have said, it sounds like Dotson is currently winning. However, that doesn't mean Smith is too far behind. The Eagles' second-year wideout has shown nothing but a ton of growth and maturity compared to his rookie season.

As for Dotson, he's grown just as much -- especially after coming to the realization that his job in this league is far from secure.

"Getting traded here (and) realizing that, you know, your job in the NFL isn't safe anywhere you go," Dotson said. "You gotta be on your Ps and Qs. It's bigger than me at the end of the day. I got a family to feed."

The good news is that Dotson has now had a full offseason with Philly, which means he is feeling a lot more comfortable and confident with offense.

"Last year, it was a big learning process for me," Dotson said. "Learning the offense, learning how things work around here, being introduced to a new organization. But I felt I picked up on it real fast."

Aside from knowing the ins and out of the playbook, chemistry is everything when it comes to a wide receiver and his quarterback. So, both Dotson and Smith are taking the right approach, and it's cool to see how Hurts is on board with spending the extra time building that.
