Ja’Marr Chase Makes Historic Justin Jefferson Prediction

Justin Jefferson has shattered and set multiple league and franchise records en route to four Pro Bowl honors in his five seasons in the NFL. At 26, the Minnesota Vikings star is the league's consensus top wide receiver.

Ja’Marr Chase Makes Historic Justin Jefferson Prediction

Many believe that Jefferson would go on to become the greatest wide receiver in NFL history. He is the only player to breach the 7000-receiving-yard mark in their first five seasons and also holds the record for most 100+ yard receiving games before turning 26.

The Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase believes that Jefferson has what it takes to achieve an unprecedented feat in the NFL. During an interview with CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin, Chase was asked to predict who will eclipse the 2000-receiving-yard mark in a season and when.

"The next three years, somebody has to do it, if it's not me," he said.

The 2024 "triple crown" achiever went on to name a fellow LSU star as the safest bet alongside him to become the first player to register 2000 receiving yards in a season.

"Me and Justin, of course," Chase said.

Jefferson took the league by storm in his rookie season, putting up 1,400 yards on 88 receptions and scoring seven touchdowns. He built on that breakout campaign the following year, improving to 108 catches for 1,616 yards and setting a career-high with 10 touchdowns.

His trajectory only continued upward in 2022, when Jefferson led Minnesota to the postseason while hauling in 128 passes for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns, a performance that earned him Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Even an injury-plagued fourth season couldn’t slow him down. Despite being limited to just 10 games, Jefferson still managed to post over 1,000 receiving yards. Last season, he bounced back in elite form, once again topping 1,500 yards.

With such a historic start to his career, Jefferson has already etched his name among the NFL’s elite, and he is determined to rewrite the record books for years to come. He was just 191 yards shy of the 2000-yard mark, and he might get the job done next season if he manages to build good chemistry with J.J. McCarthy.
