Jax Taylor claims he and Brittany Cartwright resolved their custody situation before he filed his error-ridden court documents last month.

On the heels of news that Jax, 45, had given Brittany, 35, full legal and physical custody of their three-year-old son Cruz as he represented himself in his paperwork, The Valley star released a statement, clarifying his custody agreement with his estranged wife and noting that his “errors” will soon be fixed.

“Jax and Brittany have already long resolved all matters related to custody of Cruz, and will continue to work together privately for the best interest of their son, which remains their overriding concern. While Jax made errors in filing out forms that are usually done by trained legal professionals, those errors will be amended without delay,” Jax’s rep said in an October 2 statement to PEOPLE.

As Vanderpump Rules fans may recall, Brittany filed for divorce on August 27, requesting full physical and legal custody of Cruz. Then, weeks later, Jax submitted his response, stating that they were not legally married in his paperwork and adding incorrect details relating to the timeline of their relationship. He also checked an “other” box about child support, which further added to the confusion.

After E! News shared a post regarding the matter on Instagram, Brittany offered her reaction in a comment to its headline.

“We are legally married. I’m guessing paperwork is hard for some people,” she stated, along with an emoji peeking through its fingers.

The Valley Brittany Cartwright Confirms She and Jax Taylor Were Legally Married

Back in August, after Brittany filed for divorce, an insider spoke to PEOPLE about the split and Brittany and Jax’s plan to co-parent.

“This step has been a long time coming and something Brittany knew she had to do for the best interest of herself and her son in order to move forward and put a stop to this tumultuous cycle they’ve been living in,” the source shared. “Jax is feeling mixed emotions. He knows this is ultimately the right decision but is sad that things ended up the way they have. It’s an emotional month for him and he’s trying to stay strong for his son.”

“Their main priority is getting to a place of being amicable co-parents for their son and this next stop will hopefully move them closer to that goal,” the insider added.

Around the same time, Brittany told PEOPLE that Jax is a “great dad.”

“I’m not ever going to take Cruz away from him. We will always put Cruz first and we are going to work towards a healthy co-parenting relationship. It’s going to take some time,” she continued. “Still, things are very raw between us, but for the most part, I do know if I needed something, if Cruz needed something, I could call him and he would be there for us.”

The Valley season two is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year.
