Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s separation gets all the more dramatic. If it wasn’t rage texting from rehab, or throwing furniture, it came to light that he stopped paying the mortgage on the family home.
On the recent episode of The Valley, Brittany went to a divorce lawyer and revealed all the financials. She describes being left with the mortgage, which more than doubled when Jax got behind on his taxes. But the Kentucky native is confident that she can handle the finances on her own. Most importantly, she can keep her four-year-old son Cruz in the family home. Less importantly, is Jax’s opinion on the matter. However, he shared it anyway.
The Valley preview: Jax wants Brittany to share their $2 million home
In the preview for Season 2, Episode 10, Jax questioned why his estranged wife would need to live in a $2 million farmhouse.
“Brittany needs to know this house needs to go on the market right now,” Jax opined to Jesse Lally. “No woman needs a five-bedroom house [with] seven baths. You are a woman with a child. Get something like a three-bedroom that’s manageable as a woman.”
During the February 7 episode of her podcast, When Reality Hits with Brittany Cartwright, the Vanderpump Rules alum explained her decision to stay in the house.
“It is not going for sale anytime soon,” she shared. “This is another reason why I’m hustling, because I’m going to take care of my household and I’m going to take care of my son and I’m just very proud that I have been able to do all of this by myself. But yeah, this is my house. I’ve completely taken over everything and definitely not going to sell this baby anytime soon. I love her.”
Prior to moving back in, Brittany was renting living spaces. Then Jax signed a lease on a condo neighboring Tom Schwartz. In the episode preview, he explained why he stopped paying the mortgage in the first place.
“I stopped paying when I found Julian,” Jax stated. “I stopped paying all of our bills. I was like, ‘Great! I hope the house goes into foreclosure.’”
Despite the rash decision to seemingly punish his estranged wife for moving on, Jax also told Jesse that he’s settled the matter and “paid it all off.”
