Jax Taylor’s Exit From ‘The Valley’ Caught Everyone Off Guard

Jax Taylor's Exit From 'The Valley' Leaves Cast 'Blindsided'

Jax Taylor’s reign of Bravo chaos may have finally come to an end—or a pause at least—and not even his castmates saw it coming. As “The Valley” gears up for season 3, Taylor has announced he’s stepping away from the show. But sources say the decision was anything but coordinated.

‘The Valley’ Cast Was ‘Blindsided’ By Jax Taylor’s Announcement

Taylor’s signature move might be ghosting — and it looks like he just pulled his biggest Irish exit yet. According to People, “The Valley” cast had no idea he was walking away from the show. A source told the outlet, “They were not given any advance notifications about his exit,” and added, “Most of the cast were notified that filming was going to begin at the end of the summer, and they expected Jax would be a part of the new season… This is a huge surprise.”

Bravo has yet to comment on Taylor’s departure, and Andy Cohen hasn’t weighed in either. But based on the timing, fans are skeptical about Taylor’s reasoning. In his official statement, per Variety, he wrote:

“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of ‘The Valley.’ Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.”

The Former VPR Star Has Had a Bumpy Season 2 on ‘The Valley’

Taylor’s personal life has been unraveling in real time during season 2 of “The Valley.” He and Brittany Cartwright separated in 2024 after five years of marriage, and she later filed for sole legal and physical custody of their son Cruz, who was diagnosed with autism last year.

According to Bravo and Cocktails, in March, Cartwright shared the breaking point that led her to walk away for good. She claimed Taylor screamed at her during a car ride to their son’s doctor appointment, after partying the night before. That same day, Taylor was involved in a hit-and-run and checked into rehab, though he reportedly left after just 17 days.

In September 2024, Taylor revealed he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD. “Mental health is a lifelong battle of not letting it control you but rather you learning to control it,” he said at the time.

The divorce drama only intensified on air. During the June 10 episode, Cartwright met with a lawyer and said, “I need to go ahead and rip the Band-Aid off, get this process started and never look back.” A week later, Taylor reacted to the news in a confessional: “Imagine coming out of a facility, dealing with your mental health issues and then being slammed with divorce papers… It’s hard.”

“We both hurt each other so much in the last couple of years. We don’t have anything left,” he added.

Now, as Bravo preps for season 3, it seems the rest of the cast — Kristen Doute, Luke Broderick, Jesse Lally, Michelle Saniei, Daniel Booko, Nia Sanchez, Jasmine Goode, Zack Wickham, and Janet and Jason Caperna are all set to return.

The Season 2 finale of “The Valley” airs Tuesday, July 22, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
