When Summer House fans first met Jesse Solomon last season, he was the carefree, outgoing financial professional who fit right into the group. But his complexities emerged quickly as Jesse confided in his cast-mates that he was a two-time testicular cancer survivor. He even filmed a very vulnerable moment during which the newbie Bravolebrity feared the disease might have returned.
Thankfully, Jesse is still in remission today. However, sharing his journey became very important for cancer awareness in younger males. In an interview, the reality TV star reflected on the recent cancer scare, and how it impacted his perspective.
Jesse Soloman “appreciates life” all the more now
Jesse appeared on The Other C Word podcast. He explained that a routine check-up turned into a nightmare after tests revealed “abnormal cells.”
“While filming, you had a cancer scare happen on TV,” host Bisma Lalji said.
Jesse responded, “I was pretty surprised.” Then added, “I was like, I’ll get my five years (in remission) on the show.”
Fans will recall how the Summer House cast threw a party for Jesse in honor of it. He was first diagnosed with stage 1 testicular cancer in 2017. The Bravolebrity went into remission after surgery and additional treatments.
Last summer, Jesse and his healthcare provider both felt abnormalities, leading to the cancer scare that Jesse shared on camera for Summer House Season 8.
During a May interview with E! News, the former financial professional revealed, “The doctor felt something, and I felt something separate.”
“Both things were abnormal. We had to wait like two hours for the ultrasound. I’ll get the results soon enough, but hopefully, it’s fine. 50/50 shot,” he shared.
It was important to Jesse to be authentic with viewers and share the “super real” emotions. The situation was challenging and fraught with nerves, but he’s come out on the other side. The Bravolebrity reflected positively on the experience, saying to host Bisma that he felt it was a message from God.
“Be careful now; I can f—k your s—t up at any moment. I do appreciate life, so I wanna live,” Jesse shared.
