A wise woman from the Berkshires once said, “Say it, forget it. Write it, regret it.” Unfortunately, that lesson did not resonate with Joel Kim Booster, so he regrets the unkind things he wrote about Shannon Beador on Instagram.
The Love Hotel host recently shared a shocking rant, where he accused Shannon of treating people like they were “subhuman.” He trashed her for her DUI and said he hoped to see her “suffer.” Obviously, that didn’t sit well with Real Housewives of Orange County fans.
Although Joel quickly deleted the post, seemingly at the behest of the higher-ups at NBCUniversal, the aftermath has lived on. Now, he has returned to the scene of the crime to apologize. He posted another Instagram Story to try to clean up this mess.
Another stop on the apology tour
Over the last week, Joel has been making his rounds and apologizing for what he said about Shannon. He reached out to all of the Housewives involved with Love Hotel and is trying his hardest to sweep this under the rug. That could be due to a guilty conscience, or it could be because someone at NBCUniversal sent him a strongly-worded email. Either way, Joel has changed course.
Joel wrote, “Re: the housewives of it all, I’ve had a lot of time to think and process about this and I wish I could say that I was not the guy who posted those statements on Instagram, but the fact is that I am.”
He continued, “I let an onset conflict cloud my judgment and accessed the darkest, ugliest part of myself and said things I don’t stand by or even believe and I am deeply sorry that allowed my worst self to cloud my judgment.”
Even though Joel might have been speaking the truth…
It’s a stark difference in tone compared to his original message about Shannon. Previously, he claimed he felt “no regrets” about what he said, even after he deleted the rant.
Although Joel originally called Shannon a “pathetic drunk,” he tried to empathize with her in his latest post. He said he could recognize that Shannon had an “extraordinarily hard year” and apologized for possibly making it worse. After all, Love Hotel was supposed to be a positive experience for Bravo’s most eligible bachelorettes to have another shot at love.
He continued, “I regret making this a part of the story of our show, as I’m deeply proud of the work myself, the ladies and the crew put into making it.”
There’s no word on when Love Hotel will air. For now, you can watch Shannon on Real Housewives of Orange County every Thursday at 9/8c on Bravo.
