Being the ‘GOAT’ is to construct a legacy that will be whispered by generations to come. As November approaches, the hype surrounding UFC 309 continues to build. Dana White’s favorite and the heavyweight king, Jon Jones, will soon step in to end his division drought while also looking to cement his position as the best to ever do it. He will need to silence another heavyweight great in Stipe Miocic to do so.
With the upcoming event, ‘Bones’ has once again become the talk of the town, as this fight is rumored to be his swansong. Fans and critics alike have already begun to consider Jones the ‘GOAT of MMA’ handing him comparisons to other sporting legends like Micheal Jordan and dubbing him ‘The MJ of MMA.’ This sentiment has also been echoed by Mike Holston, a renowned animal educator and social media influencer, to which Jones responded with his faith.
Jon Jones credited his glory to God
Former UFC welterweight king Kamaru Usman recently came into the limelight when he, on his Pound for Pound podcast, put Jon Jones and Michael Jordan on the same scale. He exclaimed, “To be honest, Jon is — in a sense — the Michael Jordan that we’ve seen in MMA.” This sentiment was echoed by self-proclaimed ‘scientist’ Mike Holston.
Famous for his work alongside renowned biologists and zoologists to raise awareness of exotic animals, Holston recently took to his Instagram story to compare Jon Jones with other sports stars. He wrote, “When you talk Phelps (Michael Phelps), Brady (Tom Brady), Ali, Jordan, etc., talk @jonnybones.”
Holston didn’t stop there; he further highlighted Jon Jones’s undefeated status, placing ‘Bones’ higher on the list of the aforementioned GOATs. He claimed, “The only difference is he actually never lost, ever!” This reached Bones’, who was humbled by the appreciation from the renowned educator and instantly reposted the story on Instagram, acknowledging the praise while crediting God for his success. He wrote, “To God be the glory.”
Even though Jones has had a disputed and controversial life during his career in MMA, he has always tried to keep himself on the righteous path of God. Because of this, the Heavyweight champion has successfully overcome countless challenges and continues to have a successful career despite being absent from the organization for an extended period.
When ‘Bones’ Witnessed ‘Spirit Channeling’ in the Octagon
Earlier this year, when the world was counting down to the UFC 303 main event showdown where Alex Pereira was set to defend his light heavyweight title against former champion Jiri Prochazka. The Czech Republic native shocked the MMA world just a few days before the bout. He accused Pereira of using shamanic rituals to gain an advantage over his opponents. Initially, Pereira and his team dismissed these claims, but as we know, the controversial statement spread like wildfire, reaching Jon Jones.
Jones took to X to endorse Prochazka’s claims of black magic in the octagon, sharing his own experiences. He wrote, “There has been a lot of talk about spirit channeling and magic in MMA lately. This stuff is all very real. I felt all types of weird energies walking into those arenas and looking certain opponents in the eyes.” ‘Bones’ further revealed how his faith in Jesus helped him overcome these supernatural entities, claiming, “I want to let you all know that Jesus Christ is king; he is and always will be undefeated. Every knee shall bow.”
