Jordan Love Intercepted by Xavier McKinney in Packers Training Camp Highlight

Green Bay Packers training camp is officially underway, and quarterback Jordan Love already has a noteworthy highlight, but it brought criticism from the fans ahead of the NFL season.

Love is returning for his fifth season with the team, and third as the starting quarterback. He's coming off a season where he threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns on 268-of-425 completed passes. Love also tallied 11 interceptions for his second-straight season.

The NFC North could be one of the toughest divisions, as the Detroit Lions aim to build upon their recent success, and both the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are poised to contend for playoff spots.

The expectation is for the Packers to reach the postseason for a third consecutive year with Love as the starting quarterback. However, they want to advance further into the playoff bracket than they did in their previous two attempts.

On Wednesday, Love and teammates took to the field to begin practicing just a few weeks before their first preseason game. On one play with 11 offensive and 11 defensive players lining up, Love attempted a pass to teammate Dontayvion Wicks as he ran towards the corner of the end zone.

However, All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney read the play perfectly and was in great position, jumping to grab a highlight-reel interception, robbing Love's potential connection to Wicks.

A clip surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, spotlighting the play, with spectators reacting to what they saw.

Social media fans also commented on the clip, and many seemed to suggest that Love is prone to making mistakes like this.

"Jordan Love already in mid season form," one X commenter wrote.

"JLove in playoff form," another commenter suggested.

"Uh oh Love off to rough start in the first practice of the season. Packer fans should be worried," another commenter said.

"We got rid of Aaron Rodgers for this," an X comment said.

Interestingly enough, Love's 11 interceptions last season were the same number that Rodgers had with the New York Jets, as well as Patrick Mahomes had for the Kansas City Chiefs. Kirk Cousins and Baker Mayfield led the NFL with 16 interceptions apiece.

Love recently received praise from various players around the league, after being named to the NFL Top 100 list ahead of the season.

It's also worth noting that many fans who commented on the training camp highlight felt it showcased McKinney's abilities on the field, which is an excellent sign for the Packers' defense.

McKinney has been in the league since 2020, playing his first four seasons with the New York Giants. In 2024, the Packers signed him to a four-year, $67 million contract with an initial signing bonus of $23 million.

His debut season in Green Bay featured a career high eight interceptions, nearly equaling the nine INTs he had in his entire Giants career. McKinney also recorded 60 solo and 88 combined sacks, a sack and fumble recovery for the Packers. His stellar season earned him his first-ever First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections.
