“Dancing with the Stars” co-host Julianne Hough had what many fans thought was a classy response when she learned of her ex-husband’s latest news. Brooks Laich and his girlfriend, Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir, just got engaged.
As Us Weekly noted, Hough and Laich split in May 2020. She officially filed for divorce six months later, in November 2020. The couple had been married for almost three years.
Speculation about Laich and Davíðsdóttir began several months after his separation from Hough, according to Us Weekly. They went public with their romance in August 2021.
Julianne Hough Wished the Couple Well
On December 27, Laich and his new fiancee revealed their engagement news via Instagram. She wrote, “12.16.24 💍🤍♾️ Forever feels just right with you!”
Hough had the top comment, which she posted not long after the announcement. “Congratulations 💍 I’m so happy for you both as you step into this beautiful new chapter together. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures! ❤️✨”
Her comment was well received. More than 1,500 people liked Hough’s note and several added comments. Multiple people noted they thought she was a “class act.”
One fan wrote, “Love how supportive you are. Life is too short to not wish your loved ones well.”
Laich responded to Hough’s comment, writing, “Thank you for the kind words. Much love, Jules!”
Hough’s brother, Derek Hough, and his wife, Hayley Erbert, also left comments on the engagement announcement post.
In a separate Instagram post, Davíðsdóttir shared additional photos from the proposal.
She wrote, “From now until forever baby!!!!! I can’t believe I get to marry my best friend & the greatest human I know on this planet. He is my favorite person, my north star & the ultimate vision of what I have for our future.”
The newly-engaged Iceland native also wrote, “I love you so much @brookslaich thank you for making my life better than my wildest dreams.”
Since going public with their romance, the couple has regularly gushed over one another on Instagram.
In August 2023, Laich noted his lady was starting her 10th Cross Fit Games. “@katrintanja you have earned every inch of the journey this year, and you have inspired myself and countless others along the way with your constant pursuit of improvement!”
Laich continued, “I’m putting a wind at your back, Koda is pulling you, and Theo is barking words of encouragement!”
