Even with the depleted Kansas City Chiefs receiving a boon with news that star Rashee Rice may not have torn his ACL, Patrick Mahomes and company are certainly still stiffing for pass-catching help.
Rice is out indefinitely and free-agent signing Marquis "Hollywood" Brown will miss the entire season without playing a single snap. Veteran Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 89 yards but is still without a touchdown and is on pace for career lows across the board.
With news of Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams potentially entering the trade block, Kansas City naturally offered themselves into the bidding. However, ESPN Insider Adam Schefter poured cold water on any Adams-to-Kansas City chatter Wednesday afternoon.
"Two teams high on Davante Adams’ wishlist of places to land - if not at the very top - are the Jets and Saints, per league sources," Schefter tweeted.
"There are other teams that remain interested in the Raiders wide receiver. Despite any speculation, the team not expected to be an option is Kansas City, per sources."
When asked about the team's current options at receiver following the Rice injury, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was bullish on his internal options. "We've got guys here that have experience of playing in the game," Reid said. "It's not that he's the only one, doesn't have to be the only one."

Meanwhile, Adams is said to be seeking a reunion with one of his former quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers (his teammate in Green Bay from 2014-2021) or Derek Carr (his quarterback at Fresno State from 2011-2013 and with the Raiders in 2022).
After a strong first campaign in Las Vegas where he led the league in touchdowns, Adams' Raiders picture has been far from rosy. He was captured looking visibly disengaged on the Raiders sideline during their surprising Week 3 home defeat to the Carolina Panthers.
Adams missed Week 4 with a hamstring injury, and Raiders coach Antonio Pierce liked a tweet saying Adams had played his final game for the franchise.
The talented receiver was asked about his relationship with Pierce on the "Up & Adams" show this week. "I haven't heard from him. I haven't talked to him," Davante Adams said. "Social media is a beast, so it's a lot of people out there that saw it and wondering what's going on and reaching out."
Pierce looked to diffuse the situation at a recent press conference. "This is the NFL, things come up every day," he said. "Since I've taken over this job, it's been obstacles. This is another one."
