Katie Maloney had a blunt reaction to Jesse Lally‘s defense for not wanting Michelle Saniei to get an epidural for the birth of their daughter, Isabella, now 5.
After Jesse, 45, appeared on a podcast, where he explained why he wanted a natural, drug-free birth and claimed he felt it was his job to make the call, the 38-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum, along with Scheana Shay, 40, responded to the interview.
“So I had brought up home birth, natural birth, and Michelle was like, ‘Absolutely not.’ But we had conversations about it,” Jesse shared on the May 27 episode of Not Skinny But Not Fat after the host mentioned Michelle’s claim that he was “very controlling” in the delivery room and didn’t want her to have an epidural or C-section.
According to Jesse, he didn’t want his daughter to “come into a world full of drugs” or into “a stressful environment.”
“Whether they were true or not, it’s what I believed in my head,” he reasoned.
“[And] the epidural thing,” he continued, “I just asked about it. ‘Does it go into the bloodstream?’ And they’re like, ‘No, it’s in the lower back,’ or whatever. Then, when she was stalled at 7.5, we started having the Pitocin conversation.”
As Jesse looked back on their conversation about the possibility of inducing labor with Pitocin, the host noted that it was Michelle’s body, not his, that was giving birth.
“100 percent, [but] I took control because in that moment I felt like that was my job to make the decisions,” Jesse replied. “I was hoping that it would be natural-ish, right? Like, she would go into labor, it would take four or five hours, she would push, and the baby would come out.”
Following the sharing of the clip, Katie and Scheana reacted to Jesse’s explanation with comments.
“Barf,” wrote Katie.
“Coming from the guy NOT giving birth…” added Scheana.
