Kenny Pickett suffers setback Eagles fans will be disappointed to hear

Philadelphia Eagles fans will always be grateful for what former quarterback Kenny Pickett did for the franchise during their Super Bowl run in 2024. They got some unfortunate news about the former Birds signal caller with his new team, the Cleveland Browns.

Kenny Pickett suffers setback Eagles fans will be disappointed to hear

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Pickett suffered a hamstring injury during Browns training camp that will keep him off the field. The team will re-evaluate him later in the week to see where is he at with returning to play.

Pickett is currently deep in a quarterback battle with Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders for the starting job.

How the injury impacts the former Eagles QB

While he didn't blow anyone away with his play, Pickett did make one start for the Eagles as he led the team to a blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys while Jalen Hurts was recovering from his concussion injury. Pickett might be most remembered for taking the final kneel down in the Super Bowl that sealed the 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

He helped the Eagles by being part of a trade that helped Philadelphia pick up a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The move was made after the emergence of Tanner McKee as he was thrusted into the QB2 role behind Hurts.

Pickett was given the opportunity in Cleveland to earn the starting position, but he has stiff competition. Losing time in training camp is going to be rough for Pickett, as it might open the door for the two rookies.

There has been speculation about whether Pickett will be traded, given that he is a younger veteran with starting experience, having compiled a 14-10 record as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first two seasons in the league.

Eagles fans have been rooting from afar for Pickett to succeed and show the rest of the league the potential he showed in Philadelphia last year. The hope is he can return and be ready to play against Philly in the preseason.
