Khabib Nurmagomedov will go down as one of the greatest combat sports athletes of all time, in the conversation with the likes of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and many more.

Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s retirement from the UFC in 2020 came as a huge shock to the fanbase considering he was still in the prime of his career and was undefeated at 29-0.

His retirement came after another dominant performance in which he submitted Justin Gaethje in the second round, scoring his fifth submission win in his UFC career.

Since his retirement, Nurmagomedov has become one of the best coaches in MMA, coaching the likes of Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Usman Nurmagomedov, continuing his legacy.

Even years after his retirement, Nurmagomedov still receives calls from the fans to come out of retirement and compete in the UFC again as he is still only 36 years old.

Despite that, the Russian continues to honor a promise he made to his mother following the tragic passing of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, and will still go down as one of the greatest of all time despite his premature retirement.

And now, to honor his legacy even further, Khabib recently received an award signed by boxing legend, Muhammad Ali, when he visited Kuwait.

Ali is widely regarded as one of the most inspirational figures ever, having transcended the sport of boxing, representing his Islamic religion worldwide.

The award Khabib was presented with was a plaque containing the iconic photo of Ali standing over Sonny Liston during their historic title fight. It also includes the wording ‘Introducing Islam’, honoring Khabib’s achievements as a Muslim fighter.
