Kyle Cooke started a business feud with Craig Conover when he got salty about the latter’s partnership with Spritz Society. The Loverboy founder didn’t think his friend should have worked with a competitor.
But the Southern Charm star is well within his rights. And finally Kyle had to back down and make amends. Or did he?
During Bravo’s Fan Fest in Miami over the weekend, the Summer House star made a shady comment about Craig’s business. He then had to backtrack quite a bit. Regardless of the back story, it’s clear that Kyle is still harboring some feelings.
“Name one way in which Craig Conover is a more savvy businessman than you,” Andy Cohen asked Kyle during the Yachties and Hotties panel.
“He doesn’t actually run his own business. He gets to like, do his thing. I’m jealous of that,” he answered.
After a brief break, Andy invited the Summer House star to clarify what he meant. Clearly, the response he gave didn’t land well.
“We played a shady game earlier in the show,” Andy said. “And I asked Kyle to say something nice about Craig as a businessman. His response has caused quite a bit of discord between he and his wife. And he is also unhappy with his response. So I’d like to give him the opportunity to either explain what he meant, or say what you would like to say.”
Kyle responded by claiming he “had no idea what the question was” due to the panel being a live event.
“What I meant, I’m a sole founder. I’m envious that he has business partners that help him run his business,” he continued.
As Kyle spoke, Amanda was noticeably uncomfortable. She put her head in her hands, and wrung her hands as well.
Finally, she interjected, “Say something nice about the way Craig runs his business.”
With that directive, Kyle said, “Ultimately, it’s all about our friendship. I know we had our issues. And you’ll see that on Summer House. We had a great convo. We put it behind us. What I meant is that I’m kind of envious that, you know, he doesn’t have all of the stress on his back. Because he has business partners.”
Amanda then praised Craig for expanding his business from pillows to “homes, to aprons.” Indeed, the Southern Charm star is being compared to a male Martha Stewart.
“He’s doing all those things. That’s how you answer,” she said.
Craig’s co-star Shep Rose was also on the panel. Andy asked him “how is this going to land with Craig?”
“I think Craig’s in a good place right now,” Shep said of his friend’s success. “If you’re successful, forget everybody. Just don’t listen to the voices. Just continue on the path. No offense.”
Kyle responded, “I’m not upset. I just don’t know what to say.”
It seems that whatever resolution Craig and Kyle came to during filming may now be irrelevant. Unless Kyle’s clarification was enough to smooth things over.
