Las Vegas Raiders had a very busy Monday speaking with one of the favorites to land the HC job

Finding the perfect head coach for a franchise like the Las Vegas Raiders is a very hard thing to do. I mean, they are already starting behind in that they don't have their quarterback of the future, and they don't have a GM.

Raiders To Interview Pete Carroll For HC Job

But, the Raiders are not like every other team that has those things in common. They are the Raiders, in Las Vegas, with Tom Brady making some moves. That's more enticing than a lot of jobs out there, maybe even more enticing than teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Raiders are a job that coaches will want but do have the thought in the back of their minds that the last two regimes have really only lasted a year and a half each. But this time, it has to work. This time, they have to give it a chance past a year and a half.

So, that's why the connection between the Raiders and guys like Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is so vital. That's a guy that you have to give time to grow into the role. He would be a first-time head coach and he will learn as he goes.

And then there are guys like Pete Carroll, who have been there, done that, and seem to also be establishing a great relationship. I mean, they have to be, why else would he have spent all day Monday at the Raiders' headquarters?

Raiders interview with Pete Carroll on Monday

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Raiders and Pete Carroll, the former USC Trojans and Seattle Seahawks head coach, spent all day on Monday at the headquarters for an interview. If that's the case, the Raiders must really like him, as do the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.

You wouldn't keep a guy who interviewed badly around the facility for that long. I mean, take Ben Johnson for example -- there are rumors that the last season the Washington Commanders turned around their airplane mid-air on the way to see Ben Johnson because of something he said mid-phone interview.

The Raiders have to nail this one because they cannot continue to restart a rebuild when they already haven't won a playoff game in 22 years. Maybe Carroll is the guy, seeing that he's won a Super Bowl before.
